In a first, cases referred to courts in tribal districts

PESHAWAR: A day after the Peshawar High Court (PHC) announced names for the judges appointed in the erstwhile tribal areas, courts in the federal capital have started referring cases to the relevant session judges in the respective tribal districts.

On Tuesday, cases from Khyber tribal district and the Kurram tribal district were heard at the Peshawar High Court (PHC) by a two-member bench comprising Justice Roohul Amin Khan and Justice Abdul Shakoor.

Lawyers urged the judges to hear these cases in Peshawar.

However, Justice Roohul remarked that the situation has changed now. He added that until now, there was no other forum to hear these cases but this has changed now and judges have been appointed.

The bench directed the lawyers to present their case before the sessions judge of the relevant tribal district and disposed of the cases.
