The younger son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Hassan Nawaz on Friday appeared before the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers case, DawnNews reported.
Hassan arrived for his first appearance before the JIT at the Federal Judicial Academy earlier in the day.
Earlier, his elder brother Hussain Nawaz has appeared before the JIT three times during the past five days to answer questions regarding the Sharifs’ London properties. On Thursday, he was told that he would be summoned again for the fourth session with the JIT.
The JIT, constituted by the Supreme Court, has been probing into Panama Papers case. The JIT had also summoned Qatari royal Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al-Thani. Two letters signed by the Qatari royal had been presented before the SC by representatives of the prime minister’s children’s during the Supreme Court’s hearing of the Panamagate case.
Initially, Hussain Nawaz had refused to answer any question put forth by the JIT in his first meeting with the team, saying that the JIT’s status was ‘sub judice’ as he had already filed a petition before the apex court regarding two of its constituents.
Subsequently, the apex court terminated the plea filed by Hussain, seeking exclusion of the two JIT members. After each of the next two hearings, the elder son of the premier told reporters that he answered all of the questions, put forward by the members of the JIT.
The apex court has also been monitoring the proceedings of the JIT on fortnightly basis.
