Viral video: Rights minister takes notice of maid thrashing

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen M Mazari took prompt notice of a video gone viral over social media depicting a woman physically assaulting a girl maid here on Friday.

While taking notice of a video surfaced on social media in which a woman mercilessly abusing and hitting a juvenile maid, the minister inquired about the identification of the woman and sought people’s help to identify a woman involved in child abuse, said a press release.

Mazari said she would need information about the location and also identity of the woman who was seen beating a juvenile housemaid so that she could take action against her. A video surfaced on social media of a woman slapping and beating an underage maid for making excess tea.

The child maid torture case of young Tayyaba at the hands of the wife a judge in 2016 had shaken the conscience of the Pakistani society prompting a suo-moto action by the Supreme Court.
