Police on Wednesday arrested two men suspected of involvement in the rape and murder of a nine-year-old boy in Kotri.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kotri Khalid Iqbal and Station House Officer (SHO) Qurban Ali, while addressing a press conference, revealed that the boy had been abducted three days ago and his body was later found hanging from a tree.
The suspects, Zulfiqar Ali Jamali and Shahmir Gadhei, were accused of kidnapping and raping the minor in a state of intoxication, after which they ‘killed him mercilessly’, the police officers said.
DSP Iqbal and SHO Ali said that the police began conducting raids soon after the boy’s body was found. The suspects, after their subsequent arrests, confessed to the crimes, the police said.
A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against a complaint filed by the victim’s uncle.
The complainant and the victim’s relatives have demanded the case be sent to an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) for a summary trial.
