Al Azizia case hearing adjourned till Dec 4 due to counsel’s absence

ISLAMABAD: No proceedings were conducted today by the accountability court regarding the hearing of corruption references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family today due to the absence of the defence counsel .

When the hearing began, Judge Mohammad Bashir was informed that Nawaz ‘s counsel , Khawaja Harris, was not present in court upon which the Judge adjourned the hearing until December 4.

Former prime minister and head of PML-N Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz had reached the accountability court hearing corruption references against the Sharif family in Islamabad today.

MNA Capt (retd) Safdar, Maryam ‘s husband, was also present in the accountability court .

Meanwhile, talking to newsmen outside the court premises, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said people have heaved a sigh of relief after winding up of the sit-in. She said chaos in the country has ended.

To a question about resignation of the Law Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb said sacrifices have to be given for the sake of the State.

Nawaz and his family are facing three corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court’s July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case.
