TIMERGARA: Al-Khidmat Foundation, a welfare organisation of Jamaat-i-Islami, set up a study centre for orphan children and their mothers at its hospital here the other day.
AKF director national disaster management Fazal Mehmood inaugurated the study centre. JI tehsil chief Sher Bahadar, orphan children, social and political activists and area elders were present on the occasion.
Earlier, a workshop and blood screening of the orphan children were conducted. The children took keen interest in video clips displayed on multimedia.
Addressing the function, Fazal Mehmood said that they would regularly arrange training workshops for orphans and their mothers at the centre each month.
He said that the activity was aimed at building the confidence of children and educating the mothers to take special care of them at homes so that the orphans could be made useful and equal citizens.
He said that their Aghosh Centre at Gulabad had been providing free education, shelter, food and uniform to orphan children.
He appealed to well-off people to extend cooperation to the foundation for taking good care of children.
Meanwhile, Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation distributed food packages among deserving orphans at Nagri Talash on Sunday. The packages included flour bags, rice, ghee and sugar.
