LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board, issuing a rejoinder to a news item published on Thursday in this newspaper with reference to former pacer Sarfraz Nawaz’s court notice to Board Chairman Shaharyar M Khan, stated that a clear violation of court orders has been done by Mr Sarfraz in continuing his malicious campaign against the PCB Chairman, Executive Committee head Najam Sethi, and other officials.
“PCB wishes to point out that Sarfraz has repeatedly failed to produce evidence of his allegations in court and his credibility has been questioned time and again. His utterances on various TV shows and print interviews are clear cases of contempt of court,” said the PCB rejoinder.
“PCB has no intention of withdrawing the press release dated February 19, 2017, and reaffirms its determination not to bow down to nefarious and blackmailing elements who continue to damage the game of cricket through their vitriolic campaign.
“Even after the Injunctive Order dated 19-06-2015, whereby he was restrained from doing so in electronic and print media, Sarfraz has failed to abide by the judicial order. We want to add that Sarfraz’s accusations are actually due to PCB’s refusal to yield to his reprehensible and unmerited demands for jobs/assignments and grants for his cricket academy.”
