Copyright

In order for LEAP-Pakistan to publish and disseminate research articles, we need publishing rights. This is determined by a publishing agreement between the author and LEAP-Pakistan.
All authors submitting articles to LEAP-Pakistan for publishing will be required to explicitly consent to LEAP-Pakistan’s publishing policy. This may involve authors being required to sign an agreement which deals with the transfer or license of the copyright to LEAP-Pakistan.

Rights granted to LEAP-Pakistan

For all articles published on LEAP-Pakistan, LEAP-Pakistan is granted the following rights:
  • The exclusive right to publish and distribute an article, and to grant rights to others, including for commercial purposes.
  • The right to provide the article in all forms and media so the article can be used on the latest technology even after publication.
  • The authority to enforce the rights in the article, on behalf of an author, against third parties, for example in the case of plagiarism or copyright infringement.

Author's rights

LEAP-Pakistan encourages its authors to maximize the potential of their published work. All authors retain significant rights to use and share their own published articles.
Authors transfer copyright to the publisher as part of a journal publishing agreement, but have the right to:

  • Share their article for Personal Use, Internal Institutional Use and Scholarly Sharing purposes (as described below), with a link to the published article on LEAP-Pakistan.
  • Retain patent, trademark and other intellectual property rights (including research data).

Article Sharing

Accepted Drafts


Authors can share their accepted drafts:
Immediately
• via their non-commercial personal homepage or blog
• via their research institute or institutional repository for internal institutional uses or as part of an invitation-only research collaboration work-group
• directly by providing copies to their students or to research collaborators for their personal use
• for private scholarly sharing as part of an invitation-only work group on commercial sites with which LEAP-Pakistan has an agreement
In all cases accepted drafts should:
• link to the formal publication via an active link
• not be added to or enhanced in any way to appear more like, or to substitute for, the published journal article

Published Article
Policies for sharing published articles are as follows:
• via their non-commercial personal homepage or blog
• via their research institute or institutional repository for internal institutional uses or as part of an invitation-only research collaboration work-group
• directly by providing copies to their students or to research collaborators for their personal use
• for private scholarly sharing as part of an invitation-only work group on commercial sites with which LEAP-Pakistan has an agreement
• Otherwise sharing is by the express permission of LEAP-Pakistan
In all cases published articles should:
• link to the formal publication via an active link
• not be added to or enhanced in any way to appear more like, or to substitute for, the published journal article
